Frequently Asked Questions
How much does mobile car detailing cost in Northern Virginia?
Metroshine's mobile detailing in Northern Virginia starts at $118.99 for an essential exterior, $148.99 for an essential interior, and $208.99 for a full detail. Final pricing depends on vehicle size (coupe, sedan, small SUV, large SUV) and condition. Visit our pricing page for a full package breakdown.
What's the difference between a ceramic coating and a ceramic sealant?
A ceramic sealant is a spray-on hydrophobic protectant that lasts roughly 3–6 months and is included as an add-on to most details. A true ceramic coating is a professionally applied, semi-permanent layer that bonds to your clear coat and lasts 1–5 years depending on the product. Both repel water and contaminants — coatings simply last much longer and offer stronger UV and chemical protection.
How long does a full detail take?
A premium full detail typically takes 3–5 hours depending on vehicle size and condition. Interior-only details run 1.5–3 hours and exterior-only details 1–2 hours. We never rush — quality always comes first.
Do you come to apartments and condos?
Yes. We regularly detail at apartments, condos, and office complexes throughout the DMV. We just need a parking space with reasonable access to the vehicle — we bring our own water and power, so no hookup is required from you.
Do I need to provide water or electricity?
No. Our mobile rigs carry their own water tanks and battery/generator power, so we are 100% self-sufficient. If you'd like us to use a hose or outlet we're happy to, but it's never required.
How often should I get my car detailed?
We recommend a full detail every 3–4 months for most vehicles. Daily drivers and cars parked outdoors benefit from a monthly maintenance wash between full details to preserve paint and interior condition.
What's included in interior vs exterior detailing?
Interior detailing includes a full vacuum, steam clean of carpets and upholstery, leather conditioning, dashboard and trim wipe-down, glass cleaning, and odor neutralizing. Exterior detailing covers a foam hand wash, decontamination, hand dry, tire and trim dressing, and a ceramic spray sealant. A full detail combines both.
Is paint correction safe for my car?
Yes — when done correctly. Our paint correction process uses a paint depth gauge, controlled machine polishing, and progressively finer pads and compounds to safely remove swirls, light scratches, and oxidation. It is safe for daily drivers, luxury vehicles, and modern factory clear coats.
What areas do you serve?
Metroshine serves the entire DMV — Washington DC, Northern Virginia (Vienna, McLean, Tysons, Arlington, Fairfax, Reston, Great Falls, Herndon), and Maryland (Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Potomac). If you're nearby and not listed, just ask — we travel widely across the metro.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online in under two minutes, request an instant estimate, or call/text us directly at (844) 642-6247. Most customers get same-week availability, and a deposit is only required when your total is $500 or more.
